Is it acceptable for essential post to be delivered to the new house before completion?

I exchanged last week and am completing next week. I took out home insurance after we exchanged, not realising that the policy documents are sent by post rather than email.
I’m also going to need to sign up for internet. If I sign up today, the switch over will happen 3 days after completion, but the router will almost certainly arrive prior to completion.
Is this acceptable? It’s basically unavoidable unless we want to wait 10 business days after moving in for internet and we both work from home.

Let your sellers know and ask them to put it aside for you?? When i moved in there was a package waiting for me that had got there that day or maybe the day before. (not a router, i had arranged delivery of something for after i moved and the company probably thought they were being helpful sending it quicker than i requested !)And IIRC there might also have been a couple of letters from friends who jumped the gun on welcome to your new home cards.Could be awkward in a brand new house though.1

If you have exchanged with a completion date, then no harm in my view starting to get things rolling. When we moved last year, I ordered up the internet, sky, parking permits etc etc once we had a completion date and contracts were exchanged. I advised the estate agent I would be doing this, and she said she would mention it to the seller. For things such as the internet, sky who I went with were pretty understanding of the situation, and sent the new equipment to our old residence so that we could take it over with us on moving day. The line switch and everything like that then happened the day after we moved in. Surely you've got a mobile phone that you can tether the data to for a few days? Funnily enough my 5G signal is about 3 x faster than the fiber to copper line that I have in the house, but I digress....
With the home and buildings insurance, we didn't get any physical documents until a few months after moving in. Was all done online and by e-mail. The only mail that we had waiting for us when we moved in was a welcome to your new home card from my parents. Might be worth chatting to the estate agent and explaining what you want to do? When the time comes to sell this house, I wouldn't personally be fussed if some mail and a router turned up early for the new owners, but you never know I guess.0 -
Ask your buyer. Our buyers asked if they could organise their router being delivered to the house after exchange. As there was 4 weeks between exchange and completion (we went into rented and needed time to find somewhere) we didn’t mind and we also agreed for virgin to do work outside that was needed. We knew one of them worked from home and needed to be ready ASAP. We just put the post to one side for them.0

I feel like a right idiot as I just went to sign up for the broadband and it has an option to have the router delivered to another address

annoyingly we have to sign up to a rolling monthly FTTC service until the end of May as that’s how long it will take for FTTP provisioning!!0 -
Normally fine though makes sense and be polite to ask the sellers. It's their house after all!Strictly speaking if they wanted they could send you post back RTS. Or bin it.0

Just before Christmas someone was really outraged on our Facebook residents' group asking if anyone knew who x was as she had their post delivered to her address, it had never happened before. Someone pointed out that she had recently sold her house and maybe it was the new people, and she was outraged, thought it was awful that it could be them - completely OTT reaction. So probably best to ask!2

Just make sure you don't do anything that will disrupt their services while they're still living there!1

but everyone else in the group worked out it was someone in the buyer's family. You never know, you might be buying from a muppet, so best to mention it! 2 -
This is the question you need to ask the seller. "I hope that it won't be a problem for you but I'm wanting to arrange xyz". You might need to ask through the solicitors or the estate agent.parkingadvice1212 said:Is this acceptable?
