This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning folks.I'm wide awake when I really want to be fast asleep still. Yesterday was fairly quiet in an unsettling way, it's always being on edge which exhausts me. However, DM had a good afternoon doing the crossword with her friend. At 3pm the crossword was declared 'undoable' and by 6.30pm it was done!As for today, no idea yet. I may bake but really don't want to eat the resulting cake, I eat too much already. Every weekend the young woman next door hands in slices of her baking, yesterday it was two still warm cinnamon buns, it's very kind of her.I hope that everyone is doing at least OK. Happy Sunday to all.17

Morning
Gers it must be really stressful for you at the moment. I hope she rallies as she often does there are far too many crosswords in the world for her to leave yetMake sure you look after yourself today you can never eat too much cake.
Talking about cake I hope there's plenty on offer at the Ruby house today along with lots of fizz and lovely presents.
Happy Birthday lovely friend 🥂🎂 may your day be perfect you deserve a fun day after the year you've had. Big hugs xx
Nan all the best for the scan today I'll keep everything crossed xx
Excitement of the day is an Asda delivery coming soon I'm beside myselfI have the serious job of eating lemon drizzle cake after making it yesterday. With our philosophy of no waste on here I'm sure you'll understand the need to declutter it.
Nothing else of note to report... food tonight will be some ham roast and more cake
Enjoy your days all17 -
Morning All
Happy Birthday Ruby, hope you have a fabulous day, you deserve it!
Hugs to you Gers, perhaps you should bake anyway, I find it quite thereaputic.
Shopping all done yesterday, I called to see a friend on my way back with two custard tarts, her and her OH love them. We had a coffee outside in the garden but my was it cold, felt like I couldn't warm up all day after that so I covered myself in a lovely fluffy blanket and read a book!
Planted some seeds yesterday and re-potted a houseplant but it really was too cold to stay out for too long. It was a lovely bright start this morning but seems to be clouding over now, I'll put the washing out and see what happens.
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX17 -
Good morning all
Quiet here at the moment but gearing up to pop out for a walk in a while. Going to set a beef short rib going in the slow cooker before I do. We find one rib with veg is ample shared between us these days; very yummy.
There will be rugby to watch when we get back and a bit of lazing about. I've been randomly picked to do a Covid test for an Imperial College, London, research project so will be sent that by post. I haven't done one before so hope I get it right.
Happy Sunday everyone.15 -
Morning all!. Bhajis were a bust, not bad but not great so more practice needed. Weather is grey, dull and chilly so the fire is burning away for the moment. Today I am planning on doing nothing except a freezer dive for something for supper. I have peppers and leeks and a couple of aubergines so there may be some creative cooking later on. I did a bit of hoovering yesterday so the floor looks crumb and fluff free for the minute and the stairs aren't furry anymore. There's no carpet on them so the fluff and hairs collect in the corners but suck up quite satisfactorily with the hoover extension. I think I'll be doing a lot fo reading today.Happy Birthday Ruby! Have a great day! Hope the scan results are as good as they can be for Mr Fixit, and you nanny..Gers, hoping for many more crosswords in her future. Hugs and stuff for any willing participants in this area, waves and smiles for the not...Soppy smiley Sunday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi16

Morning everyone
Raining here at the minute but meant to brighten up later. Woke up in a panic as I thought it was Monday and I'd slept in - back to work tomorrow!
So snuggled back down and texted DD who was at Stockholm airport waiting to board - she's off to Germany today to start the next adventure. She'd had very sad goodbyes with her friends last night, but she's going to do her dream job and knows she will keep in touch with them all.
I'm going to mix some pastry to make quiche later and then I'll go down to mam and dads.
I can't remember who replied when I asked about Osteoporosis ( sorry my memory is terrible) - my doctor has prescribed vitamin D and a tablet called alendronic acid. I read up on this last night and don't fancy taking it at all, especially as I'm going to have more dental work soon. Has anyone any experience of it?
Well I'd better move otherwise I'll get nothing done before I go out.
Hope everyone has a good day15 -
Morning
Thinking of you and your mum Gers xx
Happy birthday RedRuby! x
I've managed to get some gardening jobs done. They're taking a lot longer than they should, my hip hates the cold so I've been popping outside for 15 minutes at a time. I want to really get stuck in but the last time I did that I paid for it later, and so did everyone else because I wouldn't stop moaning about it, lol.
Mr tru is going back to work tomorrow. Can't say I'm not looking forward to it, lol. Not sure how long he'll last though, his boss has always been a selfish idiot but has got worse over the last few months.
I'll be pottering in and out of the garden again today. My friend has given advice on roses, I'm not sure whether I should be messing about with them in this cold weather but she sorts hers at this time every year – no matter what the weather is doing - and they always look great. I'll probably spend a bit of time staring at them before feeling brave enough to touch them, lol.
