Orange going back on their word!!!

Hi all,

Not sure how to progress with this so was hoping for some info. Apologies, it's a bit long winded, but need to explain everything.

I've been with Orange since 2007 and have been classed as a 'Loyal High Spending' Customer in 'Band 5'!!!

Called them in Sep asking when my current contract was up and when I could upgrade. Was told I was in an 18 month contract that was up for renewal on 06 Mar 08 but I could upgrade and get a new tariff/contract on 06 Dec 07 on the 15 month mark. Was told I could have any phone, was offered a £35 a month contract for £15 (500 free mins, unlimited texts) but had to sign up for 18 months again. Please call back 06 Dec 07 to upgrade accordingly. Asked for and received a ref no just in case there was any query, which I was ensured there wouldn't be.

Anyway, called today quoting the ref no requesting the deal that was offered to be told I couldn't have it, could only offer me the original £35 contract, although if I waited until 06 Feb 07 they would reduce it to £25. I shouldn't have been told the offer would still be avilable in Dec.

Well wasn't chuffed about this so asked how I go about cancelling it and keeping my current number. Was told there would be a charge of £48.50 for this as it was before the end of the 18 month contract. Quite happy to pay this, and Orange seem quite willing to accept this.

I have no idea where I stand with this. Any ideas what I should do? Yes I could cancel it and move to another service provider, but are there any 'magic' words I could say to try and get the original deal out of them? Did ask to cancel it now but they said their system was down and to call back tomorrow!!!

Cheers in advance,

Kev
