I had similat issue with a C3 picasso HDI, very sluggish in pulling away - no engine lights, garage initially changed fuel filter, no joy, then MAF sensor (I think) still no joy, only when an Auto electrician ran diagnostics did they detect an issue with the EGR value.
Would recommend getting proper diagnostics done
  • How the heck do you find a Vauxhall specialist? At least it's agreed I'm not going to a main Vauxhall dealer.
Look at Vauxhall enthusiast forums (VXR, etc.).  Five minutes on Google turned up this guy (40 min drive from North Manchester).

Just do as I & others have said.
    Change the fuel filter !!!
You don't need a 'specialist' to do it.

Hello, just logged on with an update (3 months late!). Had service and fuel filter changed and have only put in premium diesel and touch wood, no problems with the juddering. So must have been the fuel filter. Kind of worried about putting supermarket diesel back in it now! He also advised having the timing belt changed as it's past 60k on the clock and is 10 years old, they could do it for £350 all in, which I politely declined then came home and googled timing belts and the dangers of one snapping. Will try and get some quotes in next few weeks. Thing is mine has lasted 10 years / 60k miles yet they only guarantee theirs if they did it for 12 months. Will everyone be the same? And yes, I know a Vauxhall dealer will cost even more.
