Curve Card best practise

I intend to use my recently acquired Curve card as a " replacement " for carrying multiple debit and credits around with me , making various small purchases to keep various cards active and keep DDs running etc. However, I am wondering if the following is possible ?
Make a purchase with my Amex to get cashback reward, then pay off the Amex statement using my Curve card and assign that transaction to my Barclaycard, and get cashback again ??

Is it possible , have I misunderstood how things work ?
Any thoughts would be appreciated

  • A payment by a credit card to another credit card is treated as a cash transaction meaning possible fees and lots of interest

    Ah I see, thanks
I wont be doing that then , was just hoping that by using the Curve card it was effectively breaking that chain from credit card to credit card.

Such a thing used to be possible when Curve first came out, but the various parties involved got wise to it. Tesco went totally the other way and started to treat all transactions via Curve as cash advances, even genuine purchases. I don't know if they still do, I got rid of my Tesco credit card because of it.

I still use my Curve card all the time for the sake of convenience, but that's all it is these days. The loopholes of being able to buy yourself some time/get free cash advances etc. have pretty much gone.

To be precise: since last April Curve blocks payments to credit cards funded by a credit card unless either you activate "Curve fronted" in the app and so pay them a fairly hefty fee; or (ii) you have one of the premium (monthly fee) Curve accounts.

What I have been doing is making most purchases with Amex and then paying the bill each month via Curve with a debit card on my current account with Tesco bank. (Debit card purchases earn Clubcard points but not bill payments, so Curve enables me to get these points.)
