I would like to share some beneficial advise about credit file history and Barclaycard.

You repaid £7,000 of a debt you owed, you did not pay for a service.Adams18 said:
If you want to get the expedited service, you can't just request it. I did not have an intention of paying money 75% off my credit card, but I needed a rapid rescore.MattMattMattUK said:
It is free, you do not pay for it. You paid no amount for "Rapid Credit File Update", you paid an amount off of your credit card balance. If that results in your credit record being updated quicker because it is over a certain threshold then some might see that as a benefit, but it is not something you paid for.Adams18 said:I wanted an expedited credit rescore. You have to pay 75% of your balance which could be 2K, 3K, 10K whatever it might be.
That's a lot of money to put upfront for an expedited service, hence you can't obtain it without putting a substantial amount of money forward unless your balance is really low to begin with like less than 100 pounds.
Me personally? I paid 7000 pounds.
Doesn't feel free to me. Would not have been eligible for it if I didn't pay 75%3 -
Matter of perspective really, it's lovely paying off debt.Ebe_Scrooge said:I was just about to post the same as what Esbanker has said. Look, Adams18, you don't seem to grasp the fact that you have not paid anything extra for this "service". You have merely repaid a large portion of your debt in a much quicker timeframe than you would ordinarily have done. And, in doing so, saved yourself a considerable amount of interest. So, far from being charged a fee, you've actually gained financially from the procedure.
But sometimes you're better off not paying it off in one go, and that's why we have loans and credit to spread the cost comfortably over a long period of time. I was just desperate for a rapid rescore really and so paid a large sum for it.
Had they offered me a rapid rescore for a simple 50 or 100 pound admin fee, that would have been much more manageable.
So you see, in essence it has cost me 7K I otherwise needed.0 -
We can agree to disagree.MattMattMattUK said:

Cost has many connotations, not just a monetary fee. In this case, it cost me a large sum upfront, I otherwise needed. 7 grand is a large sum. But I was desperate for a rapid rescore.
100 pounds, 200 pound FEE even would have been fantastic. But 7 grand, when someone in a desperate financial situation... can be costly.
All a matter of perspective.

Talk about banging one's head against a brick wall.........OP, since your original post seems to have evaporated, I have no idea why you were so "desperate" for a "rapid rescore". But the language you use seems to indicate that your finances are not in the best shape, so paying off a large chunk of relatively expensive debt has probably done you a big favour overall. And your statement that "But sometimes you're better off not paying it off in one go" - fair enough for something like a mortgage, but it's a very bad idea to be carrying a credit card debt long-term. That really does indicate financial hardship.

Why is there a new thread about this? There was a huge one the other day that was as painful to read as this one4

The OP did not get the answer they wanted.Jamesyb123 said:Why is there a new thread about this? There was a huge one the other day that was as painful to read as this one2 -
With a bit of luck, this one will be swiftly buried as well.Jamesyb123 said:Why is there a new thread about this? There was a huge one the other day that was as painful to read as this one
Anyway, to summarise. OP appears to have taken financial planning on a major commitment right down to the wire, possibly not helped by poor planning and emotional pressure from other family members, and coupled with an emotionally charged situation.Big bad bank has a service fail in making a fast enough credit file update. OP wants heads to roll. They will pay, oh yes they will. Etc.Misdirected and excessive anger coupled with leaping to accusations of bullying when people gave out their views - which yes were challenging and forthright at times.
This is one of those situations where, sadly, no one wins. So OP, I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm out.3 -
Because OP wants to tell us all how wrong we are without anyone knowing the full background storyJamesyb123 said:Why is there a new thread about this? There was a huge one the other day that was as painful to read as this one
