Hello there,

I was recently flamed and bullied online in this forum because of what I am about to share. But I believe in paying it forward, and helping the community.

Barclaycard offer a facility to it's customers called "Rapid Credit File Update" or "Rapid Rescore" if you pay off a lump sum that is equal to or greater than 75% of your current outstanding balance on your Barclaycard. This will allow your credit file with major Credit Reference Agencies to be updated within 3-4 working days as opposed to the lengthy 4-6 weeks that it can usually take.

I assure you that this facility exists for Barclaycard, and maybe for other lenders too.

I was deemed a liar and a troll for sharing the above information, but I have since proved it to be true.

Thank you, and good luck.

Nope. Nope. Nope. This is not a ‘service’... it’s a non-BAU process that you have confused as one. If this was a “feature”, it would be listed on their website. It isn’t.

Note I’m not saying it’s not possible for companies to quickly edit and update the records they send to CRAs - it clearly is... it’s just a non standard process that is probably going to be used in extreme circumstances only.

Yes, and I think it's important to contextualise the above further by adding that the OPs other thread appears to have disappeared into the ether. I for one tried to offer some constructive advice, despite the hissy fits being thrown around at anyone with a contrarian view. I wish I hadn't bothered. Pathetic...
  • Mob mentality on here, pathetic.

The only fact that matters here is none of you, NONE, believed this was even possible or offered to customers by paying 75% and requesting it. Until I posted proof.

So please don't try backtracking, just admit you jumped the gun by deeming me a liar. That's ridiculous.

It's so easy to admit when you made a mistake.

You could have posted this information without all the vitriol, you have flamed, bullied and trolled people in your other post.

Further, as you were already informed on that post, this is NOT a facility Barclays offer, it's a service ANY lender can use to make urgent updates e.g. if there was a mistake on your file, rather than doing a monthly update
And yet it wasn't a mistake on my file.

I wanted an expedited credit rescore. And it isn't free. You pay for it.

Ergo a facility. Maybe you're confused.

It is free, you do not pay for it. You paid no amount for "Rapid Credit File Update", you paid an amount off of your credit card balance. If that results in your credit record being updated quicker because it is over a certain threshold then some might see that as a benefit, but it is not something you paid for.

If you want to get the expedited service, you can't just request it. I did not have an intention of paying money 75% off my credit card, but I needed a rapid rescore.

You have to pay 75% of your balance which could be 2K, 3K, 10K whatever it might be.

That's a lot of money to put upfront for an expedited service, hence you can't obtain it without putting a substantial amount of money forward unless your balance is really low to begin with like less than 100 pounds.

Me personally? I paid 7000 pounds.

Doesn't feel free to me. Would not have been eligible for it if I didn't pay 75%

    "

    It’s not necessarily free.

This type of service seems like it would be free, but many lenders will pass the cost off to you. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, you should be sure that the charges are disclosed.

Make sure you understand what you’re paying. Mortgage lenders are expressly forbidden from charging you for the rapid rescore process but can bundle in fees elsewhere"

I was just about to post the same as what Esbanker has said.  Look, Adams18, you don't seem to grasp the fact that you have not paid anything extra for this "service".  You have merely repaid a large portion of your debt in a much quicker timeframe than you would ordinarily have done.  And, in doing so, saved yourself a considerable amount of interest.  So, far from being charged a fee, you've actually gained financially from the procedure.
