Technical Advice needed

I would like some technical help with charge incurred with TalkTalkmobile
They have stated that I used 975764 KB of data in 16 seconds. As I am a casual user and exceeded my limit I was charged £38 (eqiuv £142.50 per min)
The event happened at 10:52:40pm whan was in bed with the phone off. I understand that TalkTalk use the O2 4g network
I have tied to get TalkTalk to explain this, and have even used the ajudification process, but I have  not received any techical explination of the very high speeds
The key question i have is "Is this data download speed feasable?"
In addition at 10:52:57pm I was charged an identical amount (975764KB that took 3mins 58secs)
I am 75 years old and normally use my mobile for calls and texts ( ave data use is 120MB per month)
This is causing me some stress and would very much appreciate any technical support so that I can defend my position
Thanks in anticipation

The key question I have is "Is this data download speed feasible?"

975,764 KB is just under 1GB - a huge amount for 16 seconds - 500 Mbps - 5G in theory can deliver those speeds but I not sure it happens in real world usage - is the phone 5G?

    For the second one at 3min 58 - that's about 35 Mbps - possible on 4G connection.

Was the phone actually fully powered off or just in standby? Is it normally connected to Wifi around the house?

Really odd that both were exactly the same size.

What does the phone think it has used and which apps used it?
  • the phone ia an iphone 6s running on 4g
the phone was on standby and is is set to run on wifi rather than 4g
TalkTalk are assuming that apps were running in the background
How can I prove that 4g is not capable to download  975,764 KB in 16 secs - That is the key Im looking for!!
Thanks for your help so far

If your mobile data and WiFi assist are both switched on then if your broadband drops even for a second you'll revert to mobile data and apps can use data in the background.

It's best to keep WiFi assist off permanently and only turn mobile data on when you need it.

    Hope you get something sorted.
