Not in banking but she will buy things from people that phone her up, catalogues that come through the post, hard sell shopping mall stalls and dodgy street traders. I remember many years ago we were in a shopping mall and she had gone. Looked back and she was at a stall, came back to us with £50 worth of magic face cream in her bag. Several years later it was still unopened. Maybe internet banking is not for her then !Shakin_Steve said:
Bet she's never been scammed.molerat said:My SIL, who is younger than me, still writes cheques. She also transfers money between her accounts at different banks by going in to the branch and withdrawing cash over the counter then goes along to the other branch paying it in over the counter - the 2 banks are in different towns, a 40 mile round trip from home ! If she needs to know how much is in her account she goes into branch for a mini statement. She was shocked when she gave me some money by cheque and I paid it in to my bank straight away using my phone. There are still some strange folk out there - she doesn't want to use a computer for banking because it is not safe.

People like that are almost certainly more likely to have been scammed as they don't have all the protections/warnings of stuff like 2FA, bank page making sure you want to transfer etc. Her regularly going to the bank to take cash wouldn't flag stuff up if a scammer got her to take out cash to buy a gift card or whatever. Don't trust tech = more likely to be trusting of people with bad intentions imho.Shakin_Steve said:
