O2 Telephonica scam charges

I am an O2 Telefonica customer, my normal monthly bill is around £10 paid by direct debit.

In November 2020 I found that I had been charged £130 for the month!  Mainly for international calls to Seychelles, Moldova, Ukraine etc, all in a period of 25 hours.

 I had not made any calls to these places, but I had received a spate of incoming calls from them.

 I complained to O2 who insisted that I had made these calls. After various emails/online chats etc, O2 offered to refund 50%.

 I refused to accept this, and complained to the Ombudsman, who upheld O2’s position. I appealed the Ombudsman’s decision, no change.

 I then made a claim in the Small Claims Court, resulting in a call from O2, initially refusing to change their offer.

 However in a subsequent email they changed their position and offered a 100% refund plus the SCC fees of £25.    Result.

 However I am very concerned about the fraud that O2 are allowing to continue.

 Many other customers must have been caught by similar scams.

 But more importantly, O2 are making some money from these fraudulent calls, and allowing fraud and money laundering by the criminals who perpetrate these fake calls.

 I believe that O2 should take immediate action to stop such calls, refund their customers 100% for them, and bring in the police to investigate.

If you don't use international calls log-in to your O2 account and turn it off should stop it ever happening again.
