New price was 15.5% off list from CarWow & DriveThe Deal including finance contribution, I paid 22% less than that price pre reg.  A car I am currently looking at is only being offered at 8 - 10% off list with finance.

There are definitely bargains to be had on pre-reg cars but conversely it is important not to go in believe "all" pre-reg cars are bargains.

    Often they are
    • Previous engine spec
    • Previous model year
    • Registered before a plate change
    • Registed in the previous year
All of which impact the value of it.

I availed of a decent one a number of years ago with a new Passat.  It was the last of a previous engine type and the dealer had bought a load of them direct from VW.  I cant remember the specifics but it worked out several thousand cheaper than the new engined brand new variant via a broker and i bought it with a cheap loan rather than their rather expensive used car finance.

Other considerations with pre-reg is that you're stuck with the spec the car has, but this is often mitigated by the cars generally being built and bought in with a saleable spec or for them to be a cooking variant where spec changes dont happen or matter so much (the Passat above had silver metallic paint as its only option).

Everyone in the motor trade uses the cars they are selling. Second hand traders use which ever car came in with the most fuel left in.

    Just purchased a pre reg.
6 miles on clock, 30 Sept 2020 registered,
Online brokers/Carwow £3k above what I paid, £9k under "list price of £29k.
Yes I am 2nd owner and 6 month less warranty but very happy.
Dealer 150 miles away but charge £150 for trailer delivery.

That's the way to do it - ensuring the "used" car is a good saving below the best broker prices.
