Car showroom using pre-reg car

Make sure to run some quotes on something like CarWow and other online brokers for a brand new car to ensure the ex-demo car is actually a competitive price before purchasing.2

When I was looking they wanted more for an ex demo than for the higher spec pre reg. My last 2 cars have been pre reg at around 35% off list with under 10 miles on the clock.

I would wholly agree with this.DrEskimo said:Make sure to run some quotes on something like CarWow and other online brokers for a brand new car to ensure the ex-demo car is actually a competitive price before purchasing.
The dealer will quote you the "saving" off list price, not compared to discounted price of a new car.
Also, depending on how you're going to finance it, it may work out cheaper to buy new because of the finance incentives available.
This time two years ago we bought a new BMW M140i for £28,200. The dealership had a demo car on the forecourt that we got a test drive in - up for £29,995. We also got finance at 2.9% APR when the used car finance on the demo car would have been 9.9% APR.

Yep. My current car was filmed by the staff member outside his house.librarian83 said:Hi there
New to car buying, so might be a silly question - is it usual for car salespeople to use the cars they are selling? I got told that a pre-reg car I am interested is being used by the showroom manager currently on furlough and will be back next week.Life in the slow lane0 -
In itself, this is meaningless.molerat said:My last 2 cars have been pre reg at around 35% off list with under 10 miles on the clock.
For a fair comparison, you'd need to know what you saved compared with asking for an unregistered one with you as the first owner.
I'm guessing the difference between the two would be around 10-15% max.
Still a good saving, but not as 'headline grabbing' as your 35%

Precisely, and especially given that with most new cars you need to be looking at getting around 20% off, or you're not working hard enough.BOWFER said:

Yup, he wouldn't have paid list price for either option. so the saving is misleading.neilmcl said:

Only if it's something very special, or they are too clueless to use google.Ganga said:
Clueless people are out there, along with sales people ready to rip them off.
Example, I came across an old couple that paid RRP for a Renault Captur (!!)
How that salesman sleeps at night I'll never know, what a scumbag.0
