Compensation/discount after BT disconnected

We’ve been with BT for just over 3 years. I won’t bore with the details but on Wednesday they disconnected our landline which left us without Broadband. Something to do with someone trying to remove a promotion from our account and then they inadvertently disconnected us. Bills already been paid. They said it would be reconnected on Monday but it hasn’t and there are further errors so while our landline is apparently back they can’t get the broadband working through, again something to do with an old promotion and they need to do something with the coding (god knows) so it’s gone from the connections team to the data integrity team and it’s likely going to be another few days.
They’ve accepted they are completely at fault for this. They provided us with a 4G hub but our signal is not great and it’s been a struggle. They’ve said we will be compensated and have also offered today they would be able to look into our monthly cost reducing (we were going to be asking), although they were making sounds like giving us faster speed, so thinking they might offer that vs reducing cost? We manage fine with fibre 1 deal.
Any past experiences to help manage expectations/ know if we are getting fair deal. We have just come out of a contract period so new charge for the broadband is around £40 per month, new customers look like they being offered 27.99 per month. Looks like we can get what we need from sky for £31 and then bit cheaper with likes of talk talk/Vodafone etc. We can’t get virgin media. Could we hope for something in line with the new customer deal?
Should we get the automatic compensation on top of any gains through a discounts?
Should we expect to have to be locked into another contact to get any sort of discount?
Would we pushing our luck to try and negotiate good deal on Bt sport to add to account as well
Or should we just run from BT
Not looking to take the mick just learn from others.

I'd be looking to get the cost of each day you're without services for taken off your next bill. Anything ontop of that is a bonus.0

BT contract has to run out so negotiate for a better deal it will of course be a new contract 12 months or more .Same with Sky etc .You can push if you tell them you will be leaving .You will get back days loss of service as compensation .Run from BT why for one mistake ?? and one week loss of service .Move to Sky and thats on the same infrastructure0
