Is this a Mastercard credit card?
My RBS debit crd for my account is a VISA card1 -
Good point. This (non-existent) Mastercard would not have been a debit card because that would have been Visa. Hence, it would have to have been a credit card.sheramber said:Is this a Mastercard credit card?

Unless they have already implemented the change for debit cards from Visa to Mastercard announced on Feb 4.1 -

the account was actually closed in 2006, i have had the fraud and complaint team call me and they have said that they are looking into it, if the government tax offices only need 6 years of data then i would like my data purged from any site i no longer have access to. we have a right to be forgotten now0 -

I haven't bothered to read the detailed rules, but you might find that it doesn't apply in these circumstances.

It might just be a system glitch. I once received a letter from the DVLA telling me my car was due for something etc. I was only 14 and had no car.collyuk_2 said:last update

The fact that you received a message telling you a card was coming, does not mean it was, it may have just been a glitch. No card was ever dispatched or account open.0 -
How long the tax office needs to keep data for is irrelevant to how long anyone else needs to keep it for.collyuk_2 said:last update

A company may wish to retain data about people with who they no longer wish to do business. There is no reason why they couldn't keep that data indefinitely. HMRC, on the other hand, doesn't get to choose who it does business with so obviously couldn't do that.1 -
The tax office require you to keep records for 6 years but they keep your records for a lot longer than that.1

RBS a Scottish minnow bought it's larger UK counterpart some years ago. To refresh it's tarnished image under Fred the Shred. The company has simply rebranded it's self under the Nat West name again. Operating under this name in the UK and internationally. The Scottish operation will remain known as RBS.[Deleted User] said:I always thought RBS and Natwest used the same backend system and allowed each other access to it, as RBS is just a brand of Natwest. For example I can go into Natwest and do everything I can in an RBS bank.1 -
No, it was nothing to do with Fred Goodwin. RBS bought NatWest in 2000, following the collapse in NatWest's share price after it announced its intention to merge with Legal & General in 1999. (The merger with L&G fell through.) Fred Goodwin didn't become RBS CEO until 2001.Thrugelmir said:RBS a Scottish minnow bought it's larger UK counterpart some years ago. This makes me feel uncomfortable knowing that these finacial institutions can hold data for an indefinite amount of time. With all the data hacks/ leaks going on i would also be very upset to find a financial institution even held my security question/ answer/ email/ telephone/ address.Have been the victim of a data hack before and its not nice knowing your data has been leaked to potential hackers.
Please update on the situation when you find a resoultion to this and if they indeed are breaking any regulations/ rules .regards,. charb0
