Sink smell and breeze coming from sink after plumber fitted a new sink

Just paid a plumber to replace my kitchen sink because I wanted a drainer, and to plumb in a dishwasher.
My kitchen smells a bit bad now, I notice it when I walk in for a few seconds.
When I hold my hand over the sink drain I can feel a very slight breeze.
Here's a photo under my sink.
Is there anything wrong with the configuration?

Is the waste pipe under those scouring pads? Have you put any water down the drainer since the work was done?0

I've added another photo. I am thinking now that there isn't a proper u bend on the sink and that might be why, what do you think?
I've put a lot of water down and hot water.0 -
It's not right. There should be a u bend or trap somewhere between the drain connection going out on the left and the sink. You have the sink effectively open to the sewer.2

Thanks that is what I thought, is it easy to fix or do I need to get the plumber out again to sort it out?0

^^ Spot on ^^
Plumber should come back and rectify.0 -
It might work if you could turn the U bend under the sink round 180 degrees so the bend came after the washer and sink.2

Waste and dishwasher outlet / inlet are reversed. Easy to change. Disconnect and turn the ubend 180 degrees..
Sorry, on closer look the pipes are different lengths - get the plumber backI am not a cat (But my friend is)1 -
Thanks everyone I sent him a message and a photo, feels so awkward :-(
Second tradesperson that I've not been happy with :-(0 -
Guys not a plumber.
That just a common DIY mistake that he has made.
Shame on him.0 -
NO. Get the plumber out again to fix the mess they've made of this! (Is my advice . . . ) You've paid for it, you want it doing properly. Don't let useless work-people get away with things like this.NibblyPig said:Thanks that is what I thought, is it easy to fix or do I need to get the plumber out again to sort it out? Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
