Thank you, so if my my maths is right ocf is 1.2%. (approx).
(That is ignoring service fee, transactional cost, ongoing adviser fee, and ongoing incidental. Which all together make up about .5 percent )
Thank you so much for any help.
I really am out of my depth here but I'm trying my best to make sense of it and to know whether to advise her to leave everything as it is, unless that is a high ongoing charge figure.0 -
Firstly as you have concluded the simplest way to reduce the charge is to stay with the Fidelity ISA and change the fund she is invested in .
Funds that are actively managed ( like this one ) are always more expensive as they have a professional , well paid management team picking and choosing what to include in the fund .
The alternative is a so called passive investment . Typically the fund just follows an index , such as the FTSE 100 or a global index . Or you can have multi asset funds , where they have a mix of passive investments . Typical cost for one of these is 0.25% .
There is a debate about whether having a fund actively managed is worth the extra cost but the trend has been away from them towards cheaper passive funds .
Have a look at this link https://www.fidelity.co.uk/planning-guidance/choosing-your-investments/
I suggest go for the Navigator option- choose your risk level and then go for the low cost option.
This is not a recommendation as her full financial situation is not known but just a pointer maybe in the right direction.1 -
Thank you so much. I showed her the Navigator, and she is now starting the process of changing her funds to Fidelity investment funds iv, "fidelity multi asset allocator adventurous fund with accumulation."
Your help has been very much appreciated0
