You've clearly never been when they do their crazy reductions - cheaper than the reduced stuff in Tesco, but much nicer and not turning to mush, unlike Tesco where half the stuff is off even before you get it home.

Waitrose happens to be my local supermarket and I notice lots of comments about how ` posh` it is. As a previous poster says their bargains are great but their quality is superb. I have never understood the logic in standing in a supermarket where the food is frankly dirty and going off. The basics cost the same, the luxeries cost more. You pay your money and takes your choice.

Also the staff are polite and courteous and the managers pull up their sleeves and stack shelves just like anyone else.

As for the vouchers, go and enjoy- both Waitrose and John Lewis to choose from.

Not really relevant to the OP but another Waitrose defender here, surely this site is about using your money wisely and getting the best you can with what you've got - I do most of my shopping at Tesco and bargain shops but perk it up a bit with some nicer ingredients from Waitrose when I have vouchers or a bit of spare money. Their 'value' spaghetti is also really worth the extra 6-7p compared to Tesco's as it's so much better quality. I'd love to do all my shopping there as the food is great and their ethical/ local sourcing policies sit better with me, but I'm on a very tight budget at the moment so I can't quite justify it - when I get a payrise though....

Guess that means an awful lot of us will be vacating the site? Led by Martin of course who could afford to do ALL his shopping at Waitrose if he so wished:D

    So agree redsquirrel!

  • I love Waitrose as I can use all my vouchers there up to 50% of my shop, so actually getting much cheaper than anywhere else.

  • Like all the other stores, Waitrose gets special lines in at Christmas so it's difficult to think of what they might have on the shelves.

Really best to go and take a look first - without the vouchers, to prevent an impulse buy :)

I think they used to do a magazine/catalogue of Christmas special stock, so look out for one of those too.

And I'm fairly sure you could use the vouchers in JL instead, for non-food items.

Lots to choose from - impossible to remember and list them all here, though.

    Morning all,

I'm just forward thinking to next Christmas.

Ok, I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question but - Can you buy Waitrose vouchers in £5/£10 values in order to save for next year?

I love Waitrose but never have the cash to do a 'proper' shop.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

You can certainly get John Lewis gift vouchers in £10 deniminations, which of course can be used in Waitrose. I always redeem my pigsback points for these:D
