Can you find the setting for "My outgoing SMTP server needs authentication" - that is vital for the outgoing server to work and therefore Outlook to send the test email. Must be ticked and then select "use same settings as my incoming server".
No, can't see it anywhere. I know it should be somewhere!

It's not needed when you use SSL encryption and won't work.Now got it to work by ticking the box for 'secure password authentication (SPA) - most weird. Email account now enabled and emails downloaded.It's still a mystery as to why NOT doing what the instructions say works... however, I do appreciate all the help here. Many thanks.0
