New to Sky Q

just upgraded from Sky + where there was a 'search' facility at top LHS. Really useful to find a program you wanted to watch/record. Am I missing something on Q/cannot find search. You have to physically scroll through a picture of all/SOME past prorams by day, etc. Wish I had not changed. Only ever needed to watch one/record one !

Surely you google this or ask $ky community or....

    There's a <search> button on the remote (allegedly) I don't have $ky.

Push the button and talk to it? (I never use the box myself!)

I did not think they did ones without voice search anymore. The button is of a microphone and on the front. At least on mine. There are a few different versions.

I've just had Sky installed, you speak into it and find the channel then scroll across on screen.
I've had to adapt, I liked VM channel search and menu even though it seems antiquated  now I've got Sky.

If you're downloading UHD/4K content it is much much larger than HD, so it will take longer.  Lot depends on your internet speed.

I thought it was my fibre broadband when i had Q installed.
I downloaded Finding Alice episode ( HD ) a week ago and it took my Q box well over 2 hours finish downloading.
I have also tried another download the next day and waited for the Q box to download enough for me to watch that episode as it was downloading and after 5 to 6 mins it stopped as not enough was downloaded to carry on. Ii continued like that on and off for an hour and i think i watched 23mins of a 58 min and then i gave up.

The HD+ box was never that slow. I have done speed tests for my router and they are ok.
The Q box will only work at 2.4 range if you do not have Sky fibre broadband. If you do then the 5 and 2.4 options are there.
If you go to Sky community forum website there are 10's of posts on there about slow downloads.

Have you got it wired up BB hub to Sky box? Engineer gave me a cable he said it's quicker wired than over wi-fi.
I downloaded two films last week watched the both in there entirety whilst downloading, no stops perfect and I don't consider our broadband to be the fastest.

I think sky Q's wifi nonsence is a massive bodge.

I don't use sky for BB. And my speeds are fine on 2.4, 2.4 has a 150 real world cap so is fine (dpending on laout and distance from router to what you get, all bb supplier provided routers deserve to be in the bin for wifi). Of course it all depends on your bb speed as well,  I am syncing at 78,  I use an eero mesh for wifi. And another important one for people not on sky broadband, unless you have a dependant extra q box turn of the q boxes own 5g wigi, it interferes with things and slows stuff down. (at least for your own 5g wifi).

I'd ditch sky if the SO did not want it however. Far too overpriced for what it is. They should just run it like netflix, however I think they are too entrenched in the sattelite ecosystem and can't get out (or re-negociate with astra) right now.
