If you're on the line rental saver currently, you won't pay any more until your minimum contract term expires, but when it does you'll be switched to paying line rental monthly, which costs just over £30/year more....

Oh drat. I recently renewed for 24 months specifically to use Line Rental Saver twice. Luckily I paid for the first LRS term already (before the 22nd Feb deadline mentioned) but it looks like I'll be forced to pay full price for the second 12 month term! And it'll probably be priced higher then due to inflation. Not being allowed to leave penalty-free sounds illegal though - surely they can't lock customers into long contracts and remove existing discounted products during those contracted periods? No notification from Plusnet yet, I suppose they hoped this would go under the radar. Thanks MSE for alerting us!

(Not being allowed to leave penalty-free sounds illegal though )As its a discount its not against Ofcom rules .0

Well that was relatively well timed on my part, as I paid it in October at £197.88 just before they whacked it up last time, so this doesn't affect me until then, and my parents account is okay until I think November (would have been in September but Plusnet screwed that up, so they effectively got an extra two or three months after I complained).I'm outside of the CPI increases thing until April 22 for my broadband internet, so grateful for small mercies. Pity it'll soon be lumped with £20 for line rental (why does Ofcom keep saying this has "fallen" over recent years because the only direction I've seen them all go in is upwards across all providers!)). Be interested to see what these "more flexible and competitive offers" are going to look like.0

IIRC from my last contract when the LRS ends the monthly price will be that at the time of contract so hopefully still £18.99.

@charlie12 Yes I did the same and my LRS has just run out. I phoned them (expecting to have to argue!) and they immediately offered to honour the LRS monthly rate I had previously been paying (£209.88/year = £17.49/mth) until the end of the contract.charlie12 said:Oh drat.
