New TV not new ?

Have you taken photos of the issue? Go back to your Argos
store and show them the photos. Or ... raise the complaint online as I'm not sure if the stores are accepting customer returns yet. Jenni x0 -
Take it back then go to Richersounds for 5 year free warranty and better service than Argos.1

Snap! Me too. I bought a Hisense 65" in November and it has someone else Netflix (which I've never had) and Prime on it- happy days! I'm getting my moneys worth out of it! In a few years it will have paid for its self!0

Are you actually reading the replies, because they're very definitely not "leaning towards the retailer"?Bear67_2 said:Ok just to say that I already subscribe to Netflix..the NOW TV runs out in 2 days and I already pay for a TV licence so to say im getting something for nothing is wrong..my beef is that I have recieved a used TV that I presumed was new as advertised but I will leave it there as the replies seem to lean towards the retailer. Thanks anywayOr is it that you came here looking for something like "The retailer should fully refund you, allow you to keep the TV, provide Netflix for life and send you a hamper of remote control batteries" but instead you are disappointed with the fair and accurate advice given?3 -

. The correct forum etiquette is to complain loudly about a GDPR breach and set unrealistic expectations of a massive payout. 4 -
Then take it back and get your money back. Simples.Bear67_2 said:Ok just to say that I already subscribe to Netflix..the NOW TV runs out in 2 days and I already pay for a TV licence so to say im getting something for nothing is wrong..my beef is that I have recieved a used TV that I presumed was new as advertised but I will leave it there as the replies seem to lean towards the retailer. Vast numbers of people order clothes in two sizes online, or even three, plus a few different options of cut to see which fits best if they keep 1 or 2 its a good thing but the other 5-6 that go back to the shop get sold again. Did you really think that shops are throwing away half their stock?Bear67_2 said:
So your saying it's ok to sell goods as new when in fact its 2nd hand or used
Return rates for electronics are much lower, less people order a big TV for watching the world cup on and then send it back -v- those that do that with a dress for an event, but it does happen just as people find the items too big for their space, the Mrs doesnt agree to them keeping it etc.
Distance selling laws allow customers to handle the goods to some degree and give a statutory right of return on the basis of change of mind. Retailers dont want to take the hit on everything coming back so if its looks new it'll be sold as new. Most the time you'll never know if someone else has had the goods out the box or not.
In this case its obvious someone has.
I dont know about your TV but for Samsung and other brands you can go into the Engineer's Service Menu and it will show how many hours the screen has been used for. Due to uniformity testing etc the value is unlikely to ever be zero so take the number with a bit of a pinch of salt but if its 50 hours or less then its factory time, setup etc and is as new but with some free apps. If its 500 hours then its had a reasonable amount of use already... still tiny compared to its life expectancy but this wasnt a quick look at the previous person did.
If you can find that out it may help you decide if you want to keep or return it and if to keep it may add to your argument for a discount.3 -
What do you want as an outcome?Bear67_2 said:Ok just to say that I already subscribe to Netflix..the NOW TV runs out in 2 days and I already pay for a TV licence so to say im getting something for nothing is wrong..my beef is that I have recieved a used TV that I presumed was new as advertised but I will leave it there as the replies seem to lean towards the retailer. I seem to remember Argos getting into trouble a few years ago for re selling returned items as new.
Could be wrong of course.

A tablet that I purchased in store turned out to be not factory sealed, instructions pack also had been opened.
Took it back, no problems, JL explained that it should have been a "managers special". It was MP, on display, by the time we had enjoyed JL morning coffee.
Hopefully back to normal soon.
