    Anyone who runs Windows 10 has no need of any other antivirus software other than the built in Defender

    I have often read that comment in relation to Windows 10.  Can I ask please if the same is true of Windows 8 and 11 ?

    Most AV suites turn off windows defender .
    Isn't that because about one of the worst things you can do is to attempt to run two or more AV programs?

    Not really the worst thing you can do as long as you configure them properly.

    I use Windows Security as my prime AV with real time protection enabled, but I get Malwarebytes free with my bank so I have that installed with real time protection disabled and just a daily scan running. No conflicts or performance loss but an extra set of eyes in case one hasn't spotted something.

    To be fair, MBAM isn't an AV app, it's anti-malware.

    As it happens I have MBAM Enterprise running alongside Defender without any issues (on W11, previously the same on W10) ... and I have the real-time scanner running. :)

    Virus = Malware

    MBAM now functions as a full AV software.

    Yes you can have multiple AV's with real time scanning but can occasionally cause problems but you agreed earlier that 2x AV was the worst thing you can do but now you say different?
