Are IFA fees reasonable?

I know this is likely to fall on deaf ears but, the IFA you are probably referring to has frequently offered the comment that if you can DIY then DIY, if you can't then IFA, and never FA.fred246 said:I think when you have an IFA who lives on the forum promoting IFAs that it is important that people who have had bad experiences or just believe in investing for themselves provide some balance. Otherwise people would just ask a question and end up thinking that paying an IFA was the only solution.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Yep, only promoting he's doing for IFAs is indirectly by being so helpful in this forum.cloud_dog said:

No one has ever become poor by giving4 -
The couple of IFA's I have had direct contact with have not been great but I would like to hope that this was bad luck and they they were not representative of the whole industry. However I do know for certain that thanks to the IFA's which regularly post on this board I am better informed and better off than I otherwise would have been and that this forum would be the poorer without them. Personally I am more than happy to DIY and take responsiblity for my own investments but some on here seem incabable of realising that this may not suit everyone.

You say that and then someone says "My IFA is retiring and selling me to an FA so he can make 8% profit" and dunstonh says "yes that's fine. An IFA can sell his business". There just is no professionalism there. Just no understanding.0

And, on those same threads, he says "they are no longer acting independently and in your best interests".fred246 said:You say that and then someone says "My IFA is retiring and selling me to an FA so he can make 8% profit" and dunstonh says "yes that's fine.
