They failed to update bills for a year, then they tried to leave me with a massive bill as a result of their errors and breaches of contract. Then they wrongly stopped me moving accounts and I had to win a legal dispute with them just to move to an energy provider that I could trust. All the time they were using wrongfully blocking me moving to try to force me to pay a bill I was disputing. And after all of that they refused to send a letter of apology when I asked for it.
Did you send in meter readings every month?

Been with them a while, a move of house was handled a bit clumsily (emails demanding information that I already gave them) but after about a month with British Gas I was back with SO Energy, on a one-year fix that looks pretty good (now it is about to expire). But my regard for them just plummeted in the past few days. Got a 'phone call from them offering a 2-year fix "that they couldn't put in an email". Trying to sell this on the basis of "£128 per month" (they do know my usage, I submit readings regularly). But of course I asked for the actual tariff numbers and popping those into my spreadsheet gives £150 per month. More like the 2-year fix that I can see (and wasn't tempted by) on MSE's Cheap Energy Club (but with higher exit fees).I'll stick with them on a variable tariff to see if the promise comes true that my 1st generation Smart Meter will be working again by the end of 2021. But after that dirty trick I feel no loyalty to them whatsoever.2

Probably also worth noting that the Irish state-owned electricity company ESB acquired a 75% stake in them about a month ago. This will give them stability whilst others are going bust, but will likely lead to other changes. Such as retention targets that led to the "not what it seemed" offer that I mentioned earlier.0
