Hubby suggested we make the most of the weather and have a run into town for a look round the shops, I only bought 2 things, spent just over £10 but clearly today isn’t a NSD after all

Enjoy Eurovision, not long to go now 🥳
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • All tense with the footy! But it was the result I was hoping for!
Hope you enjoy Eurovision too!! 🇬🇧

  • Good morning everyone! I am a very happy woman this morning... I'm shattered, but so happy with yesterday's football and then Eurovision results! :):)  I found it VERY hard to get to sleep as I was so excited - I hope we get to do the hosting if Ukraine can't.

Today will not be a NSD as we have decided to go out for some breakfast before hubby goes on to night shifts, we are like ships that pass when he's on nights so it will be nice to spend the morning together before he goes to bed.  I've made my PAD to CC7, just £1 today again.

I have been wondering how to tackle the balance of living vs paying down CC7 and becoming debt free. I think what I will do is work outa reasonable monthly amount that still leaves me some to spend/save as I feel I need to but still pays a chunk off the balance to get it cleared before Oct 23. I think this seems sensible as no interest is being accrued anyway.  I'll have a look at the spreadsheet this afternoon when hubby is in bed and I'm procrastinating instead of doing my ironing...

Hope you all have a good day - I'll report back later

I stayed up to watch the results too, what a brilliant night 🥳 I really liked the Czech Republic’s entry but they didn’t do that well which is a shame. So pleased for Sam.

We also like Czech Republic’s entry and Norway. But I agree, was over the moon for him - he’s such a lovely guy!

  • I've re-jiggled the planned payments to CC7 on the spreadsheet and stretched the payment term to end when the 0% ends (1 Oct 2023).  This gives me an extra £200-ish per month which should be ample. Let's face it, if I don't spend it, I will probably PAD it anyway :D

It means waiting a bit longer for my DFD, but I won't have paid any interest and I will probably be happier and less crabby throughout the rest of the payment period. I was chatting to hubby over breakfast about it, and lately I've been using the 'I can't afford it' excuse. Whereas I know that I can afford it, I just haven't been allowing myself to spend.

So, that's my procrastination done. I need to go face ironing mountain... :disappointed:

Good morning to those still along for the ride, weather here is pants again, glad I've nowhere I need to be.

The ironing wasn't as bad as I imagined, I really should stay on top of it! Anyways, today is a decent day as my £60 rebate has cleared into the account from HMRC. This gives me a nice little buffer and the ability to treat myself if I want to. My PAD was £95.86 to various places; a bill, £9 to CC7 and £18 to SPC. Today will be NSD #9 for May as I am not going out.

I am happy with the new debt clearing plan and feel somewhat relieved. This is possibly due to the upcoming increase in our energy costs too, so it gives me more wriggle room. I was most likely stressing about that.

Hope you all have a good day!

Well done for being sensible and giving yourself some breathing room.

Thank you, it does feel like the right thing to do.

May not be such a good day for me after all, the doctors have just called me about some test results and want me to go down to the GP practice. :(
    Wish me luck
