  • I had a very productive lunchtime today, moving DDs and payments from my main account to First Direct.  There's a method in my madness though.  Hubby starts his new job in the new year which will put our salaries at an even level.  We have decided that we will have a joint account and have the bills come out of there and then it's all taken care of.

We said that it would make sense to have it at Nationwide as we have the mortgage with them and it looks like I can amend my personal account to a joint account which makes perfect sense as most of the bills come out of there anyway. So I have moved my personal DDs and payments to FD in prep seeing as we have some time between pay day and actual payments for most of them.

I have also sent £3 to CC7 as I needed to set that payment up for my daily PADding. I will now move all funds except bills to FD so everything will be managed from there.  Once we set up the joint account I can then move my salary to FD and we will be all sorted :)

That extra payment puts me at a nice round number which makes my OCD happy :)

I think it depends on the reason for moving it :)  I like to have a plan of what's needed and when so that I'm not left short and I think having the joint account will really help us in terms of sharing the bills. They're uneven at the moment so once he's on the increased wage I will actually be paying a bit less - yay

Well done on getting below £5k. On the final stretch now, won’t be long at this rate.

Yes, all our bills come out of the joint account. DH's wages go straight in there and then some is transferred back to his personal account for his petrol for work and his personal spending.  House keeping money is transferred straight to my personal account and my private pension goes straight into my account to top up the house keeping money and my spending. Then I have so many little savings pots that get topped up each week for everything.

Big congratulations 🎉 on getting under £5K! I feel like the last £2k of your debt has just simply evaporated! Wow, I'm so impressed 👏🏾.

Congrats to your hubby too for his new job and payrise and it sounds like the joint account will be a good approach for the both of you. I also like moving money around and making plans 😁.

Your system sounds really efficient @Makingabobor2, that's very impressive. I've never known what it is like to have someone to share a bill with, rent etc, as I lived at home and contributed to the household but didn't in all honesty know about bills as I just gave my mum what she asked for and did food shopping. Then when I got pregnant and moved out when my son was 5 months old, I realised what adulting is really all about and I've been a single parent all this time, so I've never had anyone to share anything with. I do often fantasise about what that would be like though - but then I remember that I'd have to live with someone and it becomes less appealing 😂.

  • Morning everyone, thanks for all the congrats on my last mini-milestone, it feels really good, even though I know I still have a lot to do!

This morning I woke up to a message on Prolific saying that one of my studies had been selected for a £10 bonus! This has now been cashed out along with the £1 that was already available and sent to CC7. I also cashed out £1 from WeAre8 and sent my usual £1 PAD amount so £13 today which was unexpected :)

Today will be a NSD for me. I have a free contact lens review online appointment and I am booked in for a swim session at lunch time. Other than that I have no plans except to get the house ready for Christmas. We can't remember what we did with the Christmas crockery last year, we thought it was in the loft but hubby can't find it so we need to have a check in all the usual places...

No more updates from me, I hope you all have a great day!
