We live in a 3 bed detached house, use electric for all things except heating, all lights are LED and only 2 people in the house.
Our meter readings over the past 12 months show an average monthly usage of 600 Kwh. This is fairly constant average from January 2020 to sept 2020 when it started to rise each month. My latest monthly reading is now 1350 kwh. Way over twice and rising by 20% per month. Nothing new in the house, yet usage going up and up.
Could this be a faulty Meter? If so how do we check? The meter was installed and dated 1999. Its a Siemens S2BS100.

Where are you taking the meter readings from ? Yourself from the meter or from the bills which may be estimated ?
Is this a speedometer type of dial ?
Has the immersion heater been switched on ?
Please give us the readings you have - include the letters A, C and E.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
This is the Liquid Propane Gas, Oil Fuel forum.🙂
But more people in house now using more because of lockdown?
Left an immersion heater on?

Couldnt find the electric forum only this one.
I take the readings every month from the meter. Only a 5 digit window. Don't have an immersion heater, 2 retired occupants in the house. Any the usage rising by 20% each month with nothing new???

OK thanks, reposted on the Energy place. Did try turning off electric and no, it didn't move and the red light didn't flash which it does normally. I noticed since 6pm last night until 7am today I have used 35kwhs worth with just about every thing off. Seems a bit high to me.0

So, an update. My supplier is Utilitypoint. Their website lets me add monthly meter usage readings. Also shows my past 12
months usage in a graph.
On average every month I use 600kwh. Over past few months it has crept up to 1372kwh (Jan). I suspected a faulty meter.
I have just put in this months meter reading (Feb) and it say my usage for the month is 450kwh . So with no real changes in the house I am now using about 70% less. ???
I am totally anal about taking the readings at the exact day each month, and have a full 12 months record. Does seem a bit strange that for last month, coldest and almost darkest month I used 70% less electricity. ?? Utilitypoint say this is 100% normal.???0
