Sportage v Alteca v other?

Options
We are looking at getting a new (to us) SUV and are thinking Sportage or Alteca. Probably about 2years old. Does anyone have either of these and would share their thoughts?
Or any other similar sized/priced SUVs you'd recommend

I think you might like the Skoda Karoq.

In my view I would place them:-

    1. Karoq
    2. Ateca
    3. Sportage  (but it has a longer warranty)

What do you base that on?

Having gone from a zero Skoda family to having 3 Skodas in two years.  16 plate Superb 2.0TDi, 16 plate Fabia 1.2 TSi, New 70 plate Kamiq.   All bought sight unseen, both 16 plates bought as salvage from Copart.  Kamiq bought over the phone and delivered, paid the man and drove it for the first time the next day.

Easy peasy.  I've got better things to do rather than listen to all the sales patter.

So you haven't owned any of them.

We looked at the Ateca, Sportage and the Mazda CX-30 (now called the CX-3) a while back for her in doors as she wanted an elevated driving position.
We both liked the Mazda, I had one on long term loan for a while and it really is a nice drive and the petrol engine is peach, but they are pricey.
We didn't like the small turbo's petrol engines in Ateca and the Sportage felt heavy and cumbersome and it's mpg from the petrol engine didn't help, they are quite thirsty.

We ended up with a Suzuki Vitara.
Some of the plastic trim in a bit "work's van" but it's well screwed together and drives great. Think functional and hard wearing rather than plush. If you have kids, they'll struggle to ruin the interior un matter how hard they try.
MPG is better than most smaller hatchbacks, it''s petrol but it'll sit at 50 mpg all day at motorway speeds and it hasn't given a moments trouble, even after some pretty hard use.
The only things holding us back from another is that Suzuki have hiked the prices up recently, that and the fact it's got years of relatively trouble free service left in it.
  • thanks for all your input. I'll wait until test drives are allowed and try all suggested

Have to agree. Been a Karoq driver for last 2 years, and it's brilliant. Comfortable, reliable, great features. Skoda have really gone from strength to strength.

I replaced my car in October - was looking at Sportage or Peugeot 3008. In the end I went for a Peugeot 2008 allure premium spec, 2 years old. I decided that a sportage or 3008 needed to be diesels to make sense for me, and I don't drive the way a diesel needs to be driven (mostly multiple journeys of around 10-15 miles each day). I do like the Peugeot though, it's basically a 208 with a bigger body. The 3008 I test drove was great as well. I had a Sportage on hire for a couple of weeks in 2019 and loved it.
