Blocked bank

Hi, I was unable to find the original category for this post.
I am struggling to find an answer and the bank wont give me any answers either. My bank account that I have had for one year is under review and with the fraud team, it is blocked and I can only get money out by going into a branch. I do the odd selling online but most of this is done with paypal/marketplace, if their are any problems I will speak to the buyer and help where I can!
My mum sent me £15 on Monday morning, my nan then sent me £700 to buy my new car ( this payment never entered my bank account) 14 hours later my bank account was blocked. I am unsure if this is the reason which fills me with dread.
If someone has bought something off me surely they would message me first via ebay or facebook marketplace to advise they havent received an item or a refund. I have had none of this and have refunded buyers where I have needed too.
I rarely give out my bank details and if I do I would ensure a transaction is completed and wouldnt take someones money.
I just find it odd a day after my nan tried to send me a payment (which was rejected my security) it was blocked. The bank phoned my nan back to probably confirm if it was here. she didnt answer. When she phoned the bank the following day they advised her that security had cancelled the payment, at this time my bank was blocked.
The bank say I have to wait 10 days for a decision. I am worried. I can't eat and all I want to do is sleep and forget about the situation & yes you can still be worried when you are unsure what you have done wrong!

There is (really, truely, honestly) nothing you or anyone else can do it is that simple.
You will have to wait for the bank's decision, following which you will either get access to your account or it will be closed.
If it is closed you may or may not get a CIFAS marker but cross that bridge when you come to it.1 -

Its just the not knowing for me. If I had done something I knew was wrong I would not be writing on forums. I just wanted someone to give me a bit of clarity. It is just a waiting game I guess0 -
Basically, you, or someone who has sent you money, or someone you have sent money to, has done something the bank things is dodgy. They will only unlock your account once they have deconstructed the said something. That is why it is always worth having two bank accounts. There is nothing you can do at all accept wait. You could also check your credit file.1

In my post I mentioned my nan sent me £700 last Monday evening, this money never entered my account. Security had flagged the payment according to my nan and cancelled it and the next day I had no access to the account. I can only assume it is this. I have not done anything else to trigger this.0 -
The problem is you have no idea where the trouble lies. Maybe it is your nan's account - maybe she unwittingly received a payment from someone who was doing something wrong and then the money gets forwarded on to you.0

If I knew the issue I would be ok with that. Just happened so quick after she tried to do that.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.0 -

Yes same bank, different surnames0

Try not to worry it happens quite a lot - hopefully they will just unblock your account.
Meanwhile maybe apply for another account just in case? Maybe a Monzo or Starling, or a different high st bank0
