Hi girlies
Firstly huge love to you @Fayolle . I am so so sorry and sad to read this. DD was wearing your DDs skirt after school today and it made my heart sing. My inbox is open anytime.
I really wish I had good news but I don’t. Thank you for the vibes, I felt them in waves, but they did nothing to break down the egos and sense of our testosterone fuelled egocentric Senior Leadership Team. I, and another, have been going through the process of being appointed to SLT. It’s all happened quickly and I was so thrilled, not least because we have no women on it at all. Sadly I didn’t get the position, my single, male, childless colleague did. The lack of feedback as to why he got it over me is what’s bothering me the most. Anyhow, it really is not the end of the world. I just knew I could do it, and do it well, and make a real difference y’know?
DW on, laundry away, kids in bed, the local shop’s finest (!) overpriced red wine being drunk now x

Sorry you didn't get the promotion, asb. It sounds as if your Head is afraid that a woman might do a better job than any of his male colleagues - in some places, the glass ceiling is very hard to crack. I wish you better luck next time, because I'm sure there will be another opportunity for you.
I have not achieved a great deal today, but I am just happy to have got through the day, having felt at lunchtime as if I had been hit between the eyes with a sledgehammer. Fortunately the migraine was short lived, but I am off to bed early to try to get some decent sleep.
I have started the DW, put away the hand washed items and left the kitchen tidy12 -
ASB - sorry to hear that your leadership team are shortsighted fools that can't recognise a good thing when they see it! Hopefully another (better) opportunity will come your way soon.
I didn't get as much done as I had hoped - as usual! 2 loads washed & dried, walk to the shop for a few bits, vac'd the LR and cleaned up more blood from the LR carpet & freshly washed cushion covers. Hopefully grumpy dog's meds will start to work and he will improve soon.
On a positive note - I have contacted a gardening firm for a quote on redoing the lawn. They are coming Saturday. I also started an online course this evening - a croaking frog that has been on my list for over a year!!
Exciting news too - DD2 & BF have found a flat, made an offer & had a mortgage agreed! Unlike DD1, she didn't go to uni, and has always lived at home, so she will need lots of bits & pieces for her new home! Early days yet, but I think we will be visiting the yellow Swedish store when it opens!!
Hugs, sticks and spoons to those that need them. Night night all.11 -
Fayolle so very sorry to hear your news.
ASB too, shame about their attitude.
Have plugged on with decluttering the study and am now pretty much ready to shift furniture around. From umpteen boxes/bags on the floor and piles on the desktop, there are now only 2 items on the floor - my 'everyday' work bag (when I go out to work) and 1 set of bongos! One box also, with the books either my friend will want or if not, I'll dispose of them (book buyers offering about 46p each, huh). One item listed on fleabay and already had a bid just above my suggested minimum, so that's good news. Floor vacuumed. Tomorrow we will swap the furniture over. One or two minor adjustments and sorting to be done when the inclination hits me, but it will be better and I look forward to carpet-hunting.
Started going through the millions of photos I have on the computer. Annoyingly, although I have several duplicates/triplicates in different folders, there is one holiday for which I can find no trace. I'm aware that it is so easy not to notice a whole folder being ticked and deleted when you are only trying to tick individual photos, so I always try to be very careful, but that is the only thing I can think of.
Our veg/fruit box was delivered today and looks lovely and fresh, good quality. We've known the vendor for years, used to buy eggs from her when she had chickens, but this is a relatively new venture so we are happy to support it. Nice to see all loose in the box with no plastic, just paper bags for mushrooms, grapes and sprouts.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.13 -
HoneyBear thank you for your ideas for packing, and I think that would probably suit me rather than checking through things. As you say I can sort them out the other end..or not if I don't need them.
Afraid I got hardly anything done yesterday, or today either, for some strange reason I managed to pull something in my foot and ankle..boy was it agony. So that sort of put paid to my list for most of the day.. I don't even know how I did it but I got up from the sofa and yelped in pain. Weird!! Hopefully it'll feel better once I've taken the painkillers and I should be able to do a bit more.. I really need to get those boxes packed.. So that is my job for tomorrow - it is Friday isn't it? I've lost track of the days...
Narco I really did have to laugh at your sweet vole upsetting another vole family, although not got that this lot took up residence in your conservatory. Hopefully you will have got rid of all the conservatory voles now. Let them fight it out in the garden as to who goes where, just not indoors..
Piggers hopefully the migraine/headache didn’t develop into anything major overnight.
ASB so sorry you didn't get the promotion, I think even though we are trying to be progressive and getting more women in management/jobs of authority in reality I think it is far from the truth. It's such a shame as you would have been brilliant in this role. But as GI says a better opportunity will come along and one that you won't have to jump hoops through for ..
Narco we've been having a veg/fruit delivery for over 10 years now, from the same company, and we can't fault them. The fruit and veg is always fresh, looks lovely and bright and has no pesticides or chemicals used on them in any way. And any plastic that is used is 100% recyclable. The added bonus is that the fruit and veg last so much longer than supermarket veg. Plus we get everything seasonal and I've even eaten some things that I would never have got before in the supermarket. I'm going to be upset when we move as the company doesn't deliver to Wales, well not the part we are going to. I'm going to have to do some research and see whether I can get a veg/fruit order from one of the local farms.. I refuse to go back to supermarket...lol
Night night all.. spoons and hugs showered out to you all xx

ASB.. so sorry you were sidelined by a misogynist collective.. maybe your worth would be acknowledged elsewhere by people who appreciate and deserve your dedication and loyalty. There is a better opportunity right around the corner waiting for you.Natty.. Thank you.. My head is not feeling better but I have allowed my painkillers to wear off and I shouldn't have done. I will have OH make a cuppa and have more before bed, hopefully I will sleep like a blobfish again. I have several piles of washing to put away before I can get in my nest.. as usual.Washing dried beautifully on the line, I aired it in the dryer and folded it and it is mostly away.. the dry stuff from the airers is piled on my bed.. and I never did get the sheets changed.. I love fresh sheets.. I may still need to do them tonight as I was very much looking forward to them .
Anyone heard dicky birds from Jojo??? I miss her cat tales..
I did some kitchen tidying.. and tomorrow OH is taking Dot to Tesc0 with him.. I need jelly and she needs to be out.. she has eaten half a toe.. her own..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)11 -

Fayolle so sorry about your news xx

Narco, disappearing photos is the order of the day here too. I woke up early this morning, suddenly aware that I hadn't seen the photograph of the twin gums outside Alice Springs, and the one of me signing the visitors' book on Ayres Rock hadn't appeared. So, while my new album will look culturally appropriate, I wasn't back in the early 1980s. (I did find the twin gums one though going through the tip pile but not the other.) You'll probably find the missing folder tucked into another one but I'm now thinking I'll probably remember the significant missing photos more readily than the ones I've kept!Jab today - hurrah!Better is good enough.12
