Returning item outside of 30 day timeframe?

I can go in to detail if necessary but to keep it short & not bore...
Item is needed to be returned as incorrect part sent. I'm outside of the 30 day timeframe for eBay and seller isn't responding. Is there anything I can do?
I've heard of people going through PayPal for a return. Is that a similar process to eBay? Select incorrect part sent, get an instant returns label, get refund once returned? Or does PayPal work a bit differently (if it can even be used in this instance?)?
I know the knee-jerk response is likely why didn't you say on day 1. I did say I was trying to keep the post short though.

The seller isn't responding - is that via messaging or via a case? I'm assuming you haven't opened a case because you're out of time, but just checking to be sure. I don't actually know exactly how a PayPal case works but I do know you can't have a case open on both eBay and PayPal simultaneously.JustAnotherSaver said:I can go in to detail if necessary but to keep it short & not bore...Item is needed to be returned as incorrect part sent. I'm not sure if PP require the seller to pay return postage yet or not. I would advise registering for 'Returns on Us' if you haven't already, just in case.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along to help out soon!0 -
They're not responding via message. They seemed uninterested from the get go, they leave snotty responses to peoples negatives and now they're just plain not responding to me.I haven't opened a case as there is zero point in doing so. The tracker showed as delivered right at the very start. I would have lost any case due to this.0

That's not correct - you would most likely have won a SNAD case for the wrong part sent because tracking only defends against INR, but too late for that now. (You now know for future reference thoughJustAnotherSaver said:They're not responding via message. ) For PayPal you have 180 days for a case, but as I said I'm not au fait with the specifics of that. 1 -
If the incorrect part is the sellers fault I would try contacting ebay (if it's too late to open a case). If the seller sent the correct part but it's wrong for your purposes then I think your best bet is to try to sell it to someone else via ebay.

It is outside the 30 day from estimated delivery according to the OP, so outside of eBay’s buyer guarantee, no point at all in contacting them.NameUnavailable said:If the incorrect part is the sellers fault I would try contacting ebay (if it's too late to open a case). OP you can try a PayPal claim, it is not guaranteed like EBay and whilst virtually all buyers win the cases it may depend on how far outside the 30 days you are. As above you need to enable returns on us first, then open a SNAD. Liam and explain why this was not as described, then wait to win the case and ship item back.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ok i'll have to go in to detail then because we seem to be getting the wrong end of the stick at some points (well aware i'd win a SNAD case but wouldn't win INR - which it was up to and including the 30th day).Item hadn't arrived, tracker said it had.Contact with Royal Fail, missing emails, investigations, time passed, more time passed and more time passed.30 days is up, investigation continues and item then turns up - after the 30 days.Item is not correct part but 30 days is up.Just because I say it's turned up now, I can't tell eBay to restart their stopwatch on the 30 days ... because tracker said it turned up long ago and that's all they go off.Soolin - I enabled the returns on us thing a few years ago. Was able to return a few items for free. You don't need to activate it every time do you?I'm sure Liam is a typo but i've been sat here trying to think what you meant so you'll have to help me out?0

I have no idea where the word Liam came from, I think my iPad keyboard is haunted, I don’t even know anyone called Liam 😕. I don’t know much about returns on us but I think it only needs a sign up once.JustAnotherSaver said:Ok i'll have to go in to detail then because we seem to be getting the wrong end of the stick at some points (well aware i'd win a SNAD case but wouldn't win INR - which it was up to and including the 30th day).Item hadn't arrived, tracker said it had.Contact with Royal Fail, missing emails, investigations, time passed, more time passed and more time passed.30 days is up, investigation continues and item then turns up - after the 30 days.Item is not correct part but 30 days is up.Just because I say it's turned up now, I can't tell eBay to restart their stopwatch on the 30 days ... because tracker said it turned up long ago and that's all they go off.Soolin - I enabled the returns on us thing a few years ago. That's correct. However have a look into what should happen with a PayPal SNAD case because I'm sure they were changing the rules so that sellers had to pay for return postage, but I don't know if that's implemented yet and if so, whether you should get a label or need to pay for the postage and be reimbursed.soolin said:

Sign up for Paypal Returns on Us. Sign into your Paypal account, find the transaction and then open a case for SNAD - explaining nothing other than the item that was delivered isn't the item that was ordered. State the differences, upload any photos or evidence if you have them. Escalate the case as soon as you are able. Stick rigidly to all Paypal deadlines and do not close the case under any circumstances. You will be asked to return the item at your expense via a delivery method which shows a proof of delivery online. Depending on what the item is, do not guess if you don't know which service to use, ask here.
Just as an aside, you may prefer to ring Ebay and ask them to open a case. A case on Ebay is 30 days after estimated or actual delivery. If you can prove the actual delivery you may have luck convincing them to open the case for you - explain that it will need to be a case you can escalate, not just one for communication with the seller.

Do i then claim this back through PayPal and this is what the return on us part is?2) Proof of delivery. Interesting as usually it's just proof of postage. Which Royal Mail option would satisfy this? It's only a small item that would probably come under large letter at most.0
