OK not sure what the transaction would be called.born_again said:Makes no sense.
It's either a card payment Or a bank transfer.
So did you enter your 16 digit debit card number to pay the retailer or did they give you their sort code & account number.
Makes a massive difference to options available to claim money back via bank.
I got online banking on my phone app. They text their sort and acc number. I sign in on my phone app and pay the £200.
So no comeback then.
If you have used the debit card, then there could have been chargeback options. But as above a bank transfer is just like giving cash.Life in the slow lane1 -

There are now several comments online warning not to pay a deposit to this garage. I will now proceed to Court and then report these peasants to trading standards and any other bodies applicable.
You have to be a rip off merchant to insist on a deposit just to view a car, and in some cases, then try to twist that hold to view agreement as it is a declaration to buy a car that has failed an MOT not once but twice. Does not exactly inspire confidence.

Trading Standards neither have the budget or inclination to deal with your one off incident. You placed a deposit on a car and then pulled out, the car hadn't been misdescribed so I don't see what you'd expect them to do even if you could contact them directly.smokindustbin said:

Even though the Garage confirmed it was fully refundable and a holding a deposit *should* they wish to go ahead and purchase, not actually a deposit towards the purchase?williamgriffin said:
