So where on the car has been painted?Spondon_Owl said:I'm not sure what I'm looking to do if I'm honest. The car is excellent beyond the respray and even that doesn't look to have any imperfections other than they clearly didn't take it up well enough. I bought it yesterday so I'm just trying to weigh up options and actually to understand whether I should be as aggrieved as what I feel...0 -
Also in order to see what your options might be you need to confirm how the purchase was made and what the contract says about changing your mind.0

Well if you want to know what your rights are it's important to tell us how you purchased it. If it was via a fully distant means, ie, via online or telephone then you will be legally entitled to return it via distance selling rules as governed by the The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (CCRs)Spondon_Owl said:

How did you buy the car, was it fully online/remotely?Spondon_Owl said:What are my rights in this situation?
Also, what sort of thing are you looking to do?0 -
'course, Fred can do a far better job than any bodyshop on his drive, in the rain, with a rattlecan, having watched a youtube video.[Deleted User] said:
Just to be clear, is there any bodyshop, garage, dealership or indeed anyone connected with the motor trade whom you don't regard as dodgy?fred246 said:My experience is that resprayed panels become more obvious with time. Cars are made to incredibly high standards. There is no way that they crash 1/3 of them. Repairs look quite good when they have just been done but gradually get worse with time. I am happy to have factory paintwork with the odd scratch and imperfection rather than have it sanded down, filled and sprayed by some dodgy bodyshop.1 -
Did the seller specifically tell you that the car had not had any bodywork repairs whatsoever? Alternatively, did you ask the question?0

No and naively I didn't ask. I made the assumption that the question around being in perfect condition would answer that. Obviously not.KimJongUn88 said:Did the seller specifically tell you that the car had not had any bodywork repairs whatsoever? Alternatively, did you ask the question?
In terms of the contract, we obviously did not see the car in person until it was paid for and delivered. I need to look at the contract. I also need to read the CCRs. Thanks for your replies everyone.0 -

Probably just a minor parking scrape, then.Spondon_Owl said:

If it is just paint over a scrape there won't be a problem. The repairs that eventually show are the ones that use lots of filler over a significant dent- when done by the sort of bodyshop Fred is talking about, they look perfect on the first day, then 12 months later the edge of the filler shows. However, in Parade Raining style, the sort of bodyshop that can't manage to paint a panel without painting the rubber is the sort of bodyshop Fred is on about
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Just my experience of having cars repaired over the years. They look good when they have just been done and then they slowly change over time and become very obvious. I guess you could pay to have it sprayed again.0
