Is a 5m wide carpet possible to carry up stairs without help?

Hi everyone.
I'm having to carpet a flat and unfortunately due to restrictions I need to work out logistics as most do kerbside delivery, and I need to get it up 3 floors for the flat.
Does anyone have any idea how heavy these things are and are they manageable, or it's absolutely a 2 man job? Say a 5mx4m carpet roll? The room isn't that big but the smallest dimension is bang on 4m so can't take the risk and have to go for the 5m roll.
I don't actually know how it'll look physically, or if it's foldable or something without damaging it. Hoping someone has any idea or suggestion, otherwise I'll have to coordinate with the fitter to get it done (or get fleeced by the high street shops and buy their underlays and whatnot for them to fit it).
Also as a side note underlay packs I imagine are slightly more manageable for 1 human?
Appreciate any suggestions. Feels like it'll be ridiculously heavy but perhaps someone can confirm my fears

Pile weights/densities are typically measured using traditional imperial weights. These are given in ounces per square yard of carpet. Most weights nowadays are between 40oz and 70oz. The heavier the weight/density, the greater the luxury of the carpet pile. You will find that stair and lounge carpets are generally about 50oz, whilst 60oz to 70oz carpets are commonly a more luxurious carpet.5m*4m*1.094^2*50oz*0.028= 33kg - not that heavy, but difficult to manage because of the length1

Have a word with the carpet supplier, your carpet fitter or other knowledgeable person and ask if there is a tolerance on the nominal width of that carpet. They may be made slightly wider than 4m. They may tell you that 4 m will be fine provided you are sure nowhere exceeds 4m. Have you compared the diagonals? That will tell you if the room is slightly off square.
I have seen carpets in 4.2 m width.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1 -
I always buy my carpets locally, and just get the fitter to collect for me, and theres no extra charge.1

Thanks for the comments everyone. Sounds like a pain. Will definitely pop into any open shops to see if anything is measurable and whether the 4m will in fact fit as that means it doesn't need to be ordered in. Most 5ms aren't in stock when I phoned high street shops.
Trying to plan in advance as only in the area for a few days to do the essentials so if things are in stock it'll be easier to buy and get fitted.

Last time I was moving a carpet and underlay, I actually found the carpet easier to move - although both were heavy, the extra rigidity in the carpet meant it was easier to lift and manoeuvre than the heavy floppy weight of the foam underlay.1

The only thing I'd suggest is don't be tempted to fold the carpet or bend the roll too tightly,as it will be a bu--er to get the creases out. Easiest option to avoid waste is to ask supplier to check the roll width,if you are lucky might be a full 4Mtrs.Funny thing is by your message it sounds like the room is 4 Mtrs X 4Mtrs.. Always remember to measure into the shut of the door!!!!1

Well I'll tell you one thing. I wouldn't even attempt it, not now or even when I was a fit young man. A couple of good carpet fitters would do that no trouble.1

Thanks for the feedback. I will see what the local carpet people have in stock. Maybe I'll get lucky as the 5m seems to need time to source and I have limited time to get this done. Will probably take my tape measure and measure what they have if they let me. It's pretty much 4m exactly at the shortest bit will remeasure and check there's with the same tape in case I get lucky with the tolerance.

I'm a floorlayer, and used to do houses etc alone. as you know there is a tolerance in widths so you do right getting the 5m wide. Have you anywhere to unroll it and trim it down to 4.25m on the width? If not, take out the cardboard tube and unroll it on itself so its not tightly rolled and you can at least bend it slightly.2
