No hot water help!

Hi can anyone help?
How can I get my landlord to fix our hot water? It stopped working so we got in touch and he sent round a guy who re-set the switch this made the heater work again for a short time but then the same thing happened again. No hot water.
The landlord is now saying that he's sent someone round so now its up to us to sort out. I have noidea how to do this. I don't really understand how it works just that when we turn on the hot taps cold water comes out. There's a tank in the cupboard that I think is where the hot water comes from but no idea how it gets hot
What should we do? We always pay our rent on time and now when we need something fixing he just does not help! Should we stop paying rent till it's fixed or can we get someone in (who?) and take the money off our rent. help!

Write a letter with pen and paper or type out a letter on the computer and print off 2 copies.
Send one with proof of posting ( Not recorded delivery ) to your landlord asking him to fix the heating
It's his responsibility to provide hot water and heating .1 -

It's his responsibility to provide hot water and heating .Indeed: Use Shelter draft letter about reporting repair issues from ling above. Copy also to any letting agent and keep a copy. Email landlord if that's possible, and agent. No kettle or hob in the property?0 -

If nothing else least the OP can read about how the landlord should be behaving0 -
Ask the neighbours if they know of a good plumber and pass anything you learn to your landlord.

It's hard to understand how entitled some tenants feel.Your tenancy is secure ad you have protected rights to live there. The landlord has sent round a contractor to help you with your issue. What more do you expect/want?Tenants should take a degree of responsibility for their homes just as any self-respecting person takes responsibility for various aspects of their life. The internet these days abounds with sources of information, and utube clips on 'how to....' do/fix just about anything.0
