Not sure what happens if you put a non-Classic account in to that form, but it seems like the other option is to go to a branch.

Yes I have the legacy gold service account so it appears a branch visit is needed.

For us to be able to change your account to a Spend & Save account, you will need to complete the ‘Online Change of Account Form’. You can only change a Gold account using this form.

If you want to change to a bog-standard free account and don't want to leave the house to get one, you can switch your account to any other bank. Some even pay you for switching to them.
