Howdens Kitchen - price match?

I have got a quote from howdens through my builder it is the cheapest so far out of Wren, Magnet and few local kitchen shops. But it still seems a tad bit high. So armed with the quote I went over to Diy kitchens and tried to add everything like to like.. I’m pretty sure I am maybe 80% correct in adding like to like and this comes to £4800. I allowed for another 20% extra in case of any errors and still this is just under 6k.  

Will it be wise to ask Howdens to price match? The price in howdens is about £7k for the units.

Go for it. Going by my recent experience, Howdens are the masters at TTP.

Let us know how you get on pls - will be looking for a new kitchen later this year or early next and Howdens is on the list.

Howdens price matched DIY Kitchens for us. They took a it of pushing but didn't want to lose the sale.

Did you get Howdens to price the components individually or just get a complete package price? I struggled to get individual prices to make a comparison but they did move a bit, probably because I promised to take all my doors, wet wall and other bits n bobs from them. Their door handles, hinges etc are horribly over-priced by the way.

we had a quote from howdens for new doors and worktops. we thought it was reasonable but still rung back to see if they could improove price and they did without much fuss, never accept first quote there's always room to negotiate.

Thanks everyone! Today we popped into the local Howdens depot and were quite disappointed with the overall quality of the units. We felt the units in Magnet/Wren were maybe better built. Plus they got the overall measurement wrong by over 1 metre which is frustrating considering that I asked him quite a few times if they were correct as the 3d images made the kitchen look quite big and he assured me it was but refused to give me the measurement drawing of the units. 

Now they have to redo the design and quote! I am going to go back to Magnet to ask if they can do a better deal.

I would forget Wren if you want your order to reach you with no hassle.

Just wanted to say how awful I am finding Howdens to work with - zero flexibility.

Thanks Rosa.. I am still waiting to see Magnet.. Wren's price was something we could work with.. around 6k without appliances.. Since our builder is doing the installation it is supply only and we are getting the worktop from a specialized firm. Once i have the price from Magnet I think we should make our decision. But yes we have opted out of Howdens as their new design felt even poor!

Sadly I can't recommend the quality of DIY kitchens paint finish. If you could get somebody else to price match I would go with that.
