Thanks for all the advice :) I think for now Im going to keep it as Im actully quite fond of it.

For those curious, it was a Royal Doulton Toby Jug from the Beatles series and its Ringo Starr.

Now if I can find the other three its around £450 a set hehe

I'd sell it and keep the profit!

The school were happy to sell it to you at that price weren't they, so why feel you should 'owe' them anything? :)

    My sentiment exactly.

There was a very similar post on here a few months back about buying from charity shops and car boots and selling on ebay at profit. Something, which I hasten to add ...I do myself and feel no guilt whatsoever for doing!

I always think, whether you buy an item from a shop or second-hand, then decide to sell it on, the shop, person or charity; they got what they wanted for the item, so you should not feel guilty about making a profit (...let's not forget that all charity shops get their stuff for nothing anyway so anything they get for an item is a bonus!).

I have bought stuff from car boot sales and charity shops and done exceptionally well. But I don;t feel guilty, the shop have had what they wanted for an item so I wouldn't go giving them the profit. I couldn't even say that the items were collectable, even. Sometimes, you just happen to be selling the right thing at the right time!!!

I dont feel guilty about buying from charity shops at all because from experience the staff have usually rifled through for anything of value.

I think it was just because it was DD's school, and its such a small school as well, that the guilt kicked in.
