Moral Dilemma...

Say you went to a school fair and bought an item you had an inkling may be worth around £20 for a fiver.

Then say you got home and discovered the item was a lot rarer than you thought and there is one on ebay with a few days left at nearer £100.

Would you sell and donate some back to the school, sell and keep the lot or hang onto the item because its actually quite nice and may come in for a rainy day fund?

  • flog it and donate half to the school.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

i'd sell it and buy something nice for myself LOL
wins so far:- absolutely nothing, not even an arguement:mad:
  • Keep it.

The schools get enough money already from the government.

Think of yourself - you might need that money one day for an important bill or something really urgent.

I'd say keep it, but the "person" should owe the school a favour, not necessarily financially - being a school outing chaperone for a day , or helping out with school production could be worth a lot more to the school than the money.

    Capitalist Karma.

I recently sold a small lamp table on eBay that had been sat in my grandmother house for years. I was stunned when it went for £60 when I had started the bidding at 4.99 and would have been happy with that. Turns out it was Edwardian and quite rare, likely to fetch £2-300 at auction...

However - I was happy with what I (well, grandmother) got for it, and in all honesty I would not have the time or inclination to get it to a proper auction. The buyer was a genuine collector as well, not a trader, so they were happy they had got it a lot cheaper and easier than at auction.

The school is probably already happy that they got a fiver for something rather than nothing for something

I think I'd sell it & donate half to the charity closest to my heart.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I'd sell it and keep the profit!

The school were happy to sell it to you at that price weren't they, so why feel you should 'owe' them anything? :)
