    Hi,
We have recently had a fitter who has fitted laminate flooring to our stairs but the nosing he used does not run level with the laminate laid on the step - probably around a 5mm difference.
When we now walk down the stairs it is very uncomfortable to walk on, although it does look nice.
I am just trying to figure out if there is a solution to this as he has told me ripping it up now would cause damage to the stairs.
So potentially fitting a 5mm vinyl to level it off is one option that we may use.

    Any advice or potential solutions?
    Thanks
Most laminate/wood stair nosing is like that.
    Really?

I said most, not every. Of course there's going to be examples where the nosing will be flush.
It was a random example - one of many identical. I didn't see anything different.

And the majority of laminate stair nosing sold is like this stuff, which is not flush fit. If the OP wanted it flush they should've specified this, or at least asked the question as it's considerably more expensive, and time consuming to achieve, particularly with cheap laminate.

I see... It's stand-alone nosing, not a kit. Stupid thing, I must say - basically, a threshold (door bar) on each step of a staircase.

You supplied the laminate and the fitter got the best nosing to suit I guess? TBH, you need a couple of mil to stop slipping off the edge of the tread, I've always refused to put it on stairs due to the safety issue.
