Virgin Money not answering phones

Help!  I have been trying  several times over two days to contact VM over a maturing deposit.

Every time I call they say they are too busy and call back later - no call back or queuing system - just cut you off.

Notwithstanding Covid, this is inexcusable - not had such a situation with any other entity over the past year.

What can we do?  Ombudsman seems the only solution?

  • I can't comment on their phone lines as not used them, but way before any ombudsman, can't you write to them?

    How do you think the ombudsman would actually solve this?  It would take many months before they looked at your case and even if they instructed VM to take on more call centre staff (no chance) that would take more months....
  • Use the messaging system, they respond within a day or two.
    Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

    A massive over reaction.   Try to get a grip on current issues.
    As others have suggested, try another contact method. Eskbanker has even given you a link.

    If by 'maturing deposit' you mean you have a Regular eSaver maturing: you can withdraw some or all of your balance immediately after maturity. The maturity date is specified in your account - I believe the next maturity date, for issue 14, is February 20 2021

    Your money will be in your bank within a couple of hours of your instruction, even in the middle of the night.

    I have this account, but was not asked for my instruction.

    Perhaps I was at the time of account opening but I can't remember. I guess we will soon see!
