New broadband contract and moving house

Hi there MSE community! I am a newbie here so hope I am doing this right. My partner and I are currently in rented accommodation but are looking to buy a house. We have not found a house yet so i have no idea when we are likely to be moving but our current Broadband contract with Plusnet ends on 15 April this year. Last time we moved with them mid-contract we had issues and had to take out an entirely new contract which was more expensive. My question is - what is the best thing to do with Broadband when you know that you are going to be moving but you don't know when? Out of contract with them we will be paying £36 per month for a service that we currently pay £26 a month for so that doesn't sound like a good option but is it silly to start a new contract with them or another provider now? Thanks inadvance for your help and advice. Natalie

Move is either cancel at the end of current contract . Or Take out further contract and if possible move it to new premises ( if possible ) or pay off remaining contract .But as you are not actually moving and don't know who can supply broadband at new house have a look at a mobile dongle for lite use , many threads on here .1

You won't know that until you actually move or find somewhere to move into.1

Let's assume it takes you another 6 - 9 months to find your dream home.
If you leave it as rolling contract, extra £60 - 90 is nothing when compare to the cost of buying a house and it is hassle free.
You can look through the forum, it seems many people having problem with opensearch at the moment due to covid.1 -
TBH, you are aware of the options already, there is no magic answer, stick with PN on an ‘out of contract’ basis , will cost more but you have flexibility when you move , ( choice of provider, no early term charges etc ) you will also benefit ( if you don’t use PN at the new address ) from a new customer deal when you do move , or stick with PN , accepting that it comes with a new minimum term and you will in all likelihood take PN with you to your new address....there isn’t an option to pay less with PN and still keep your options open.
The worst option would be to move onto a rolling 30 day contract then use PN at the new address anyway, as that will start a new minimum term, and the increased cost at the current address would have been for nothing.
As already said, even if it costs >£50 , it will be insignificant in relation to the total cost of purchasing a home.0 -
When you set up your new contract use a cashback site such as Quidco to get £100, or more. It's not guaranteed but I got £120 with my new contract with BT.1
