Hmmm I was thinking of opening a RBS reward account to get the monthly reward payment alongside the Natwest reward account I already have. Applied for the Natwest account (before later changing it to Reward) back in c2015 and similar date when I opened two RBS standard current accounts which then pretty swiftly switched away. So part of my deliberation is whether (1) opening another RBS account might trigger something in the system to recognise I opened two previously and switched away v quickly...and/or (2) given my details such as income figures etc will have changed for if I now do the RBS application then this might also trigger something given how Natwest algorithms seem to operate.........and hence the risk of all my Natwest products being closed if such triggers happen.

The old applications should have long dropped off National Hunter (applications marked 'clear' stay on for 6 months) so on the face of it, you'll probably be OK. You can check National Hunter first to see if there's any applications still lingering on there that a new application would match against if you want.

Thanks. I’m thinking also that surely their algorithm would be ok with different income details, personal details etc (as long as reasonable period in between) as otherwise would happen to loads of people applying for products say a year or two apart given often their Salary will have changed.

These sorts of threads are always a bit worrying, however for balance over the last three years I have opened a 2nd current account with NatWest which I switched, had a NatWest loan which I paid off early, have a credit card with them, and have opened and closed several of their savings accounts, as well as opening two RBS current accounts ,switching one and having various savings accounts. I haven't had as many credit searches from them as products I have applied for and my income has been different every year.
I'm not planning on opening or switching any more of their current accounts and while I do use all of the accounts, they do not have all my money.
