Advice on picking Hive, Google Nest or Something else?
I've had a hive gen 1 previously and fitted a hive gen 2 for my parents. I currently use the honeywell evohome and it's a great product, but it's expensive. If you need/want individual radiator control from an app or Internet then it is great. It also doesn't rely on the cloud so if that were to go down then your heating timers and controls still work at home. It works well and is reliable but what I would say is that although in the early days it was way ahead of it's time, it hasn't really updated a huge amount over the years and now there are other products that compete well against it like the Drayton wise product. That and you don't really get any analytics from evohome which would be nice.
If you just want to be able to have your thermostat on your phone and be able to ha e geolocation and app control in one or two zones then the hive is great for that. I've also heard the programmable this with Hove are not reliable so not sure if that's worth it.
I haven't used a nest, thought about it but not sure how great it is for the UK Market.
Honeywell T6 smart thermostat with TPI. As good as their older CM907 but with internet control. Recommended.
Brilliant recommendation. I got one and it seems perfect. It's temperature control is absolutely spot on. Total perfection. Makes the Hive look like a real !!!!!! imbecile. So glad it went back. The only thing that put me off the Honeywell was that you can only use schedule OR Geofence. With geofence you can only have one temperature when you are at home. I like a schedule with cooler mornings and warm evenings. When we leave the house with no one in it we turn off the heating and put the alarm on. Sometimes we turn the heating off half an hour before leaving the house. So geofence would be worse. On our way home turning the heating on a couple of minutes before we get home isn't going to warm the house up. So it is better done manually. So happy without geofence. AND much cheaper than the Google Nest.
