Sorn rip off.
I needed to put my campervan on a SORN notification as the tax was up, and I 'm not using it, for obvious reasons.
I went online to do it, and just clicked the first obvious link which came up.
Luckily I checked as this was a scam company, charging £££ to put a SORN notice on a vehicle!
How are these people allowed to do this?

Use the DVLA website directly. It is within .gov.uk3

That's what I did. But an elderly, or less savvy, person could be ripped off by these scammers.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0

Why are 'elderly' persons automatically assumed to be 'less savvy' and easily ripped off?
As for why are such things allowed, well I guess because they are offering a service. There are similar websites offering a similar service for passport renewals.
Just because they are offering to do something that you can do yourself for free does not necessarily constitute a 'rip off'. Is a plumber ripping you off for changing a tap washer when you could do the job for free? Is a garage ripping you off for changing a wiper blade when you could do it yourself for free?
Sharp practice? Certainly. Illegal rip-off? Not really. Caveat emptor.12 -
Also, their very visible disclaimer is a pretty big clue . . .

Was surprised it was not new OP.
Yes, people use these sites because they are gullible and lazy and want it all done for them. It is well known and is on this forum and been covered many many times.
These companies provide a service and the disclaimers these days are very BIG.
Because of this you did not proceed. So you were not ripped off.
By the way the second one down on your rip off scam company links is the actual Gov.uk site?
