Virgin delay, dongle any good?

Very annoyed with Virgin BB. We move in three days and arranged for Virgin to supply BB, phone, TV ages ago to the new address.  Today they ring to say they cannot supply as arranged and we will have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the installation. Meanwhile they have offered a dongle and we wonder what others experience of one is?
Will the virgin TV box work with it and what sort of speed will we get to watch Netflix etc?
I have asked virgin to reply in writing so we can consider our options. But no reply yet.

Do they offer unlimited data? How much are they going to charge?

I have no idea if virgin TV box work. You need to ask them.
Virgin mobile use EE, so it would be whatever speed with EE mobile data.

Three offer cheapest mobile internet unlimited data with mifi device. £24 unlimited data, min 1 month contract.
But obviously three's speed is depends on the your location.

Virgin TV box needs the VM coax connection to receive live TV. Making that live is what the install taking 6-8 weeks is all about.

Not sure if TV box has wifi or ethernet port for internet / catchup services (from the cable modem/router normally)?

Virgin mobile phone dongle  will provide internet access over wifi - and speed will depend on reception at the address.
Use the reception checker?  You may find you need an external antenna for one to work well?  You may need a router/dongle with ethernet ports?

My son is still waiting VM cable install after moving from suburb of Leeds to a suburb of Wakefield in early January.  His estimate was up to 12 weeks.

Look on the bright side - 6 weeks is nothing compared with the delay you will encounter should you ever decide to try and cancel the service in the coming years! :)
