LISA Withdrawal Penalty Petition

Hargreaves Lansdown have created a petition requesting the government to keep the withdrawal penalty at 20%. This would ensure that savers are not penalised and that only the government gifted amount is lost. There is still a lot of uncertainty around thousands of people's financial situations, both now and in the future. If it reverts back to the 25%, then you will be getting back less than you've paid in. Thousands could potentially need to access their savings due to them facing unexpected hardship as a result of the lasting economic effects of coronavirus. This is not fair and savers should not be penalised.
