Not sure if this is the correct place for this.
This week I got a Littlewoods catalogue through which I have not requested nor want.(would never buy from a catalogue).
Have checked by Equifax file and Littlewoods carried out two searches on 28th November.
Should I just ring Littlewoods and tell them I don't want it.

If it were me I would be concerned. Littlewoods should not have your details and would not carry out a search without a reason and I think you already have a good idea what that mignt be?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Sorry to sound blonde but what would the reason be? Why would it be something to worry about?0

Sounds like fraud, if you havent requested it. They can only credit check you with your permission, and littlewoods only credit check you to open an account with them!
Ring them up and see whats its about asap!!0 -

The OP had not requested the catalogue and yet it was sent and the company did a credit check.
Therefore someone provided the details and was presumably trying to order goods.
Those goods could be intercepted or diverted and the OP be charged.
OP would then have to show they had not ordered nor received the goods.0 -
Yes you should be worried. Get onto it right away without delay. I had a credit card through MBNA, and came home from work one day to find; a Next catalogue on my doorstep, and a letter from Game (games console people), asking for more info to confirm my recent order. What recent order???!!!!! (I thought). Both were addressed to me albeit with my surname and first name the opposite way round!
I rang up Game and explained the situation. I read the woman the last 4 digits of several of my cards till I located which one it was - my RyanAir MBNA card.
Turned out this joker had also ordered a sim free mobile and other things too. I called MBNA and got the card stopped, and was not help liable for any of the costs. Funny thing was, I'd only used the card with 4 reputable companies; I couldn't work out for the life of me how they got my details.0 -

The companies may be reputable but are their employees. I believe, Tesco were employing some immigrants on temporary work permits taking credit card details in their call centres :rotfl:"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Classic use of hacked credit check programme used in retail trade that generates genuine card numbers and security codes.
Someone in Aberdeen? got around £1500 of web orders in less than an hour during the night using this method on my Nationwide card. Luckily their fraud section were quick to pick up on unusual useage and checked with me that day. New card and all sorted in a week.ac's lovechild0 -
An Update
spoke to Littlewoods this morning and they have no record of an account being opened in my name. The only thing they could suggest was that someone had tried to open a account in my name fraudulantly and it had been spotted. But they could provide no more help than that.
So contacted Equifax and raised a dispute detailing my conversation with Littlewoods and that I hadn't given permission for the search and did not recognise it. according to Equifax they will now take it up with Littlewoods and let me know the response but it could take upto 28 days.
Is there anything else I can do or do I just have to wait now?2008 Wins - January-£238, Feb-£181, March-£155April Wins - Grand Prix Book (£13)Win £2008 in 2008 Member 308

You did the right thing by checking with the Credit Reference Agecy.
Be thankful (it's not instant credit) otherwise you'd could have had some nasty letters and calls from the lender claiming you owed them money.
Someone has got your personal details, there is no doubt about that. You should consider these proactive solutions:
