I'll often have a little chat if I have a few mins. I ask them what led them to a life of crime as a fraudster and if their mother proud that their offspring preys on vulnerable people as a career. They usually hang up, but every minute talking to me is one less they can be scamming someone. The three regular ones at the moment seem to be: Amazon - your Prime is renewing, Amazon - have you purchased an iPhone 11, Visa - we've detected a large transaction on your card. Haven't had the "BT Technical Department of British Telecom" for a while.1

I had one before, strung along for 20 mins, they actually held on the line while "I went to the supermarket to purchase a gift card" lol
Not happy I bought the wrong card, caught me on it as asked how many digits on the wrong card, asked me "You didn't buy one did you?" My reply "no I'm still sat on my sofa" then hung up.2 -

Not worth answering - it will only flag your number up as being live, and they'll sell it on to the next company.1
