^ just FYI poppy, if you have to insist on a distinction between adult and minor, 'adult child' would probably suffice. [If there's a better gender-neutral term I am very happy to be corrected.]3

If an adult lives with him/her then SDP will not be paid but if they live alone then SDP should be paid if they also receive PIP care component at either rate.Someone please tell me what money is1

It's about 18 months since I wrote here last.
& I'm happy to say August this year we won a tribunal court case and my child will be having their SDP paid to them right back from 2013
Now we play the waiting game for the DWP to pay out the substantial amount that's owed.9 -

Thanks!
We are still awaiting any payment. I'm just waiting for an email back from the court to advise us further regarding the wait we are incurring. They always seem to drag these things out so it seems.0 -

It can take anything up to about 8 weeks, sometimes longer to pay any money owed after a Tribunal win. HMCTS are not responsible for paying you the money that's owed, it will be DWP.

I'm aware of it being DWP that pay the money that is owed.
I'm awaiting an email back from the court who are going to advise us what the delay is.
It's now 3 months since we won the appeal.
The court where we won the appeal at has provided us with another department in the courts to email as they may be able to enlighten us on any contact dwp may or may not have made to the courts.
Which we have done and are now awaiting a response. That was what I meant by waiting for an email back from the courts.2 -
A little late in posting the final outcome.Eventually, in September 2023 after the courts instructed the payment to be made without further delay, my adult child was paid over £26,000 in arrears.
It's quite disgusting that it wasn't paid in the first place and that the DWP dug their heels in so hard and made things as difficult as they could.
& I'm glad I was able to advocate for my adult child because many people aren't fortunate enough to have the support they need to get what is lawfully theirs.8 -
Goodness, well over a year after tribunal to pay what was owed. Thanks for updating and congratulations, hopefully that sort of amount means the wait ended up being worth it!1
